15+ metres vis inside the Bolshoi lounge and up to 10 meters on the outside on the Lermontov at the moment, 7 metres on the Koi and plenty of crays and scallops in between. I have just had one of my best dives on the Lermontov in months. Conditions are pretty good at the moment in Marlborough.

Visibility in the Inner Sounds is hovering between 5 to 6 metres at the moment, the water temp is slowly increasing and a long with it the alga bloom. Vis in the Outer Sounds hasn’t been that great due to the Northerly wind conditions, with 6 meters experienced at Waihi Point earlier in the week. On the Lerm vis on the outside is around 3 metres and pretty good inside, with the Engine room being very clear.

The weather doesn’t look like it is going to improve with gale force Norwests, Northerlies and then a Southerly due . Should be good for Monday with 10knot variable forecast. So it looks like the Inner Sounds are the place to be this weekend.

It’s been a busy week for training and trips at Go Dive Marlborough, hence the lack of posts this week.

Congratulations to  Sam Archer, Alastair Babbage, Craig McDermott, Patrick Brown, Jakob Scott-Bahie, Reinhard Vander Merwe on the completion of their PADI open-water certification. Craig Rofe, Kristy Dunn on their PADI Advanced open-water and Joel Strickland who completed his Enriched Air Nitrox course with me on our three day Lermontov weekend.

Crikey, just about about forgot about letting you characters know  how good the diving has been this week.  Heaps of keen divers gearing up to dive the Lermontov over the Christmas period, I for one can’t wait to get back into the water after an enforced period on dry land.

Well tomorrow is going to be the best day of the month so far, so get to bed early  if you want to make the most of it.  Saturday is going to be the best day  of the weekend all round. We have a big group learning to dive so stay away from the Koi if you want vis on Sunday.

Other than the Koi on Sunday I reckon the vis will be good and the surface conditions will be good every where.
