Congratulations to Rebecca Nicholls, Simone Schreck, Katerine Ross and Jack Sutton, all of whom have just successfully completed their PADI IDC and Instructor Examinations in the Cook Islands with Dive Rarotonga and Brent McFadden of GODIVE NZ.

The IDC in Rarotonga has been an annual event for Dive Rarotonga and Course Director Brent McFadden for a number of years now. It is tribute to the relaxed environment, warm clear waters and hard work by a group of committed young and not so young diving professionals, that our 100% IDC/IE success rate has been maintained.

The PADI Instructor Development process is the most sort after and respected programmes in the world of diving. There is no doubt, it takes commitment, attitude and hard work to successfully complete the programme. That’s why completing the programme in the right environment is all so important, worrying about being cold or not being able to control others during presentations due to poor visibility, unfairly penalizes candidates and makes the process just hard work. While NZ suffered from cold winter conditions, water temps suitable for dry suit divers only and poor visibility, the group enjoyed temps of 24 degrees and visibility reaching an incredible 70 metres.

Not only is it the warm temperatures that help produce such high results, it is the ability to unwind at the end of a busy day by strolling down the beach in the evening while enjoying blood red sunsets and the relaxed (almost to relaxed) lifestyle of the islanders. 

The Cooks are a very easy country to visit with currency being the NZ dollar and regular twice daily flights from Auckland and soon Aussie, they still hold traditional values such as no trading on Sundays etc.

On completion of the IDC, Brent run an EFR Instructor course for Sarsha and Patrick two local PADI Instructors, this will enable them to run First Aid courses for the locals and diving customers.
